      2008 Incoming Kindergarten Events Planned

                   For Narragansett School

Several events are planned for children who will be attending kindergarten next year at Narragansett School.  These activities are designed to bring families and school together in preparing for this important beginning of school.  We welcome you to Narragansett!

April 30th, May 1st , 2nd, school hours,  Kindergarten Screening

Each incoming kindergarten student is screened on one of these five dates for academics, fine and gross motor and language development.  Screening takes approximately one hour, and identifies students with specific needs.  Parents turn in registration materials at that time.

June 19th , school hours, Step-Up Day
Incoming students and parents have a chance to “look inside the    wonderful world of kindergarten”.  They will meet a kindergarten teacher,       participate in a few activities.  More information will be mailed home.

August 14th ) Summer Screening
This event is for any children who did not register and participate in the     spring screening.  Appointments can be made by calling the school office   in mid August.

August 27th   Kindergarten Orientation
Parents and kindergarteners meet their teachers and new classmates. Kids get a bus ride and parents hear about the program.  August  28th is the first ‘real’ day of school for kindergarteners.
