Global Proficiencies
Global Attitudes & Beliefs: An informed citizen:
* acknowledges other cultures and respects cultural differences.
* understands the common bond of humankind.
* understands that the actions of humankind may have global consequences (economic, environmental, religious, political, and/or cultural).
* is willing to participate in global problem-solving.
* understands that the perspectives and actions of a people are influenced by their culture.
Global Cognitive Knowledge and Skills: Geographical, Cultural, Historical, Religious, Language: An informed citizen:
*has a functional knowledge of global geography (location and geographic terrain) combined with the understanding that where one lives affects how one lives.
*has conversational proficiency in a language additional to their native language so as to effectively interact with the international community.
*is willing and able to access and comprehend current international events in order to formulate and communicate informed conclusions and opinions.
*understands the historical, geographic, economic, political, cultural and environmental relationships among world regions and peoples.
*can identify and analyze those factors that give individuals or groups power.
Global Interactive Political and Economic Awareness, Commitment, & Participation:
An informed citizen:
*acts to influence public policy and private behavior on behalf of international understanding, tolerance, and empathy.
*participates in global problem-solving and public service.
