Gorham Schools
Volunteer in the Schools
August 16, 2010
Dear Parents and Community Volunteers,
Welcome back!!! I hope you all had a wonderful summer and are ready for the new school year! As we settle into the first few weeks of school, please take some time to think about your availability to volunteer this year.
Volunteers are invaluable members of the educational program in Gorham schools. The time that you give greatly increases the opportunities offered the students. There are many opportunities for volunteering ranging from baking for events, chaperoning field trips/dances or working with students in and out of the classroom. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the attached volunteer interest form and confidentiality form. Return these forms using the self-addressed envelope that has been provided.
Process for Becoming a Volunteer
2. Complete the Confidential Information Sheet.
3. Return both forms in the envelope provided
4. If you have not attended a volunteer orientation in the past, you need to have one before you can volunteer in the schools.
New volunteers to the district or for anyone who has not volunteered before, you must attend a volunteer orientation before beginning to volunteer in the schools. I will be holding a volunteer orientation at White Rock School on September 15th at 9:30 am, one at Narragansett School on September 21st at 9:30 am, and an orientation will also be held at Village School on September 23rd at 9:15 am. On Monday, September 20th at 9:30 am, we will have an orientation in room 137 at the Gorham Middle School.
If you are unavailable to attend one of these orientations, please contact my office at 222-1274 and I will be happy to schedule an orientation with you.
Thank you in advance for the time and effort you give to the Gorham Schools. It is greatly appreciated. Have a wonderful school year!!!
Please note that the interest form and confidentiality form need to be filled out yearly. You do not need to attend an orientation if you have already been to one in the past. Thank you!!!
Sincerely,
Heidi McGouldrick
