K-2 Reading Lab
Reading Street is used as our core reading and writing program K-2. It prioritizes the five core areas of reading instruction across grades and provides high quality literature. Every selection emphasizes a science or social studies concept. Reading Street provides instruction for whole-group and small-group teaching to attend to specific needs.
Although the program and teachers differentiate instruction within the classroom, there are times when students struggle with concepts and need to receive interventions outside of the classroom. The Lab would be the place where the students would come for extra and/or specialized instruction. According to studentsí needs, they may receive extra modeling and practice with skills and strategies taught in the classroom or they may receive specialized instruction with a Reading teacher or a reading-trained educational technician. These interventions may be short-term, long-term or more intense until your child demonstrates a solid understanding of the reading skills and strategies needed to reach grade level goals.
Our goal is to get students transitioned back into the classroom for their instruction as soon as they are able to maintain consistent progress at their grade level.
