Proposed FY 18 Budget Information:
Below, please find information related to the Proposed FY 18 Gorham School Budget that was unanimously approved by the Gorham School Committee on April 12, 2017.  There are three remaining steps in the budget approval process.  Those are:
*  May 16, 2017 - Joint Meeting between the Gorham School Committee and Gorham Town Council.
*  June 6, 2017 - Municipal Budget Public Hearing, which includes the School Budget.
*  June 13, 2017 - School Budget Validation Referendum.
The May 16th Joint meeting between the Town Council and School Committee will be held in public, but public comment will not be heard.  The June 6th meeting will be a public hearing for the purpose of gathering final public input on the proposed town budget, of which the school is a part.  Public comment will be heard and then the Town Council will vote on the total budget.  The June 13th validation referendum is a required referendum where voters from the community of Gorham are asked to approve or "validate" the proposed FY 18 School Budget as approved by the Town Council.
By state law, a school budget must be approved by the School Committee, then approved by the legislative body (which in this case is the Town Council) of the school, and then validated by voters in order to be enacted.
