School Messenger

SchoolMessenger is the automated system the Gorham School Department uses to communicate important school and district information—such as school closings/delays, security alerts, school activities and more—to parents and employees through phone calls, emails and text messages. This contact information is updated in this messaging systemautomatically when you enroll your student or become an employee. If you know that you do not want to receive these messages, please note on your contact sheet or ask the school secretary to mark the number(s) as "private' in our student information system and the number will not be included.

*You may opt-in or out at any time.

*Please note: after number(s) have been automatically updated: each opt-in or opt-out request must be initiated from the phone or device that you want to exclude.

Alternately, you have greater control through using the SchoolMessenger InfoCenter. (http://schoolmessenger.com/start ) There you can create an account using the email address that you provided when you enrolled your student or became an employee. Once an account is created, you will be able to choose how you would like to be contacted based on the category of message and provide the necessary contact permission. This can be accomplished by using a computer or your mobile device. SchoolMessenger accounts are tied to individual students. Therefore, when you log in, you will see all email addresses and phone numbers for any Parent/Guardian attached to that student or your household.

There are various options to choose from. For example, many recipients prefer to get text messages rather than calls:

To Opt-in to receive text or SMS messaging

send “opt in” or “subscribe” to 67587

To Opt-out of text or SMS messaging

send “STOP” to 67587

Opt-out of voice calls

At any time, while listening to a phone message broadcast through SchoolMessenger, recipients can press “5” on their phone to initiate the opt-out process. After pressing 5, they will be given 3 choices:

  • To unsubscribe from messages like these, please press 1
  • To unsubscribe from all Non-Emergency messages, press 2
  • To opt-out of all phone notifications, please press 3

Please note: Once you have opted-out of phone calls, you will have to contact the school or create an InfoCenteraccount to have your contact added back if you change your mind.
